About Mishoomis Bursaries
Mishoomis Bursaries are meant to reward students who strive to live out the 7 Mishoomis (grandfather) Teachings, do well in their studies and give back to their community. Mishoomis Bursaries also help students who have financial need. All current and future Rama post-secondary students may apply for the Mishoomis Bursaries.
Mishoomis Bursaries Application Deadline – August 1st, 2026
Before applying for Mishoomis Bursaries make sure that you have these items:
1. Electronic copies or proof of 2 third party applications for scholarships and or bursaries.
2. An electronic copy of your marks for your last full graded year of studies.
3. An electronic copy of your resume or curriculum vitae (CV).
In order to apply, students must submit the application form along with 2 completed applications for third party scholarships and/or bursaries (all sources of scholarships and/or bursaries outside Rama). Applicants must demonstrate that they are striving to live according to the 7 Mishoomis (Grandfather) Teachings: bravery, wisdom, honesty, truth, love, respect, and humility. Applications will then be ranked according to the total of the following 3 categories, with students expected to show strength in at least 2 out of the 3 categories:
1. Financial Need – Financial need will be assessed using the Canada Student Loans Program Policy to assess expected expenses for the period of study, including 4 months prior to study. Qualified Wiijiiwaagan students may also claim their tuition amount. Students must report income from all sources for the period starting 4 months prior to study and expected income until the end of the academic year. Students must also report any assets including savings.
2. Academic Success – Students will be awarded for academic average based on their last full graded year of study.
3. Community Involvement – Students will be awarded for community involvement based on the significance, commitment, consistency, and leadership of their volunteer service within their community (either in Rama or in their own community).
Mishoomis Bursary Amounts – $40,000 for the 2025/2026 Academic Year!
Students will receive the highest bursary available based on the applications received and for which they qualify from the following bursaries:
Up to 2 x $3000
Up to 7 x $2000
Up to 15 x $1000
All remaining applicants who show that they have applied for at least 3 scholarships and/or bursaries and demonstrate the 7 Mishoomis Teachings will share equally in the remaining bursary pool (at least $5000) up to a maximum of $500 each.
